does this work with mac????

@antonpearson You're right, you don't need a preamp or EQ because both are built in but you might need a compressor which mic help with the overall sound and get rid of that hiss. If this does not work then your unit might be defective... You are using the USB connector from the mixer to a USB port on your computer right? If you're using a patch cord instead of a USB wire, you'll have hiss as well.

@antonpearson Unknown, I use this mixer every day and have been for a year with no issues and flawless experience. Can you share more of your environment, what mics, is your power grounded, what is your computer, OS, etc?

@interfacewebcast tried using rode nt5's and a regular carboid as well as trying the direct input with the guitar all with the same result, im just in my room with regular wall plugs, using a samsung rv520 laptop and cubase 6 elements

@antonpearson I have heard some people have bad experiences or challenging experiences with the Multimix4USB however I have not been able to duplicate any of the issues with mine. It's been a rock solid experience. I have used mine flawlessly with dynamic mics (Shure), condenser mics (Rode and AT), line inputs, live webcasts, recorded multitrack software. The one thing I can say I have not used it for is on a Windows based PC. All my recording and editing is done on Mac hardware and software.

@antonpearson ensure your power is clean, make sure your laptop isn't having any issues... I did a recording once on a Windows system outside of the multimix and there was an issue with a driver that botched the audio quality from the Mic. It had nothing to do with the Mic as I tried it on a separate system right next to the Windows PC and it sounded beautiful. So check lines, connections, power, system, etc... there is always a root cause to an issue like this.
