Hi. The winch is hydraulic. Here in New Zealand the Nissan Patrol/Safaris are available with 2 engines. The diesel 4.2 plus a factory turbo version and the petrol 4.2 injected. This Nissan has the petrol with a blower added to it hence the whining noise which you can hear.
