I have several years of Middle Fork experience, and the first approach was textbook, until the boater lost control and spun around towards the dangerous hole. At that water level, both approaches were fine. Anything over 6' and you'd be crazy to be in a micro-raft.
those weren't too bad. my first trip down any kind of white water and we almost flipped our boat at this rapid. mainly because we went down sideways on the paddleboat instead of straight and our boat start tipping up but we managed to keep in upright. don't even know how
Man your lucky the water level was at the level that it was. If not that back water would have swallowed you up. We had to rescue a boat out of that back water and it sucked
