Tones For Gerry is an audio-visual environment conceived by Massimo Carozzi and Stefano Pilia for "Neverending Cinema", a special project realized by ZimmerFrei at The Civic Gallery of Trento, during summer 2006.
The environment was built around fragments of images taken from the movie "Gerry" by Gus Van Sant.
At the heart of the concert born of the collaboration of Massimo Carozzi (ZimmerFrei), Stefano Pilia and Andrea Belfi, lies the connection, always visual, between the various sound ingredients and the respective electroacoustical equipment.
Radio, guitar, turntables, alarm clock, solicited objects... were amplified separately, and then put into interaction through improvisation. The idea to work on sections of sound out of sync with each other was taken back up in the simultaneous projection of three sequence levels that in the long camera car shot of Gus Van Sant's film Gerry run instead simultaneously.
