Fedelcode Model 7

A fedelcode model 7 siren being sounded for the first time in 25 years. Mounted atop the Palomar Mountain Volunteer Fire Department Station, Palomar Mountain California. The siren was donated to Palomar Mountain by the Vista Fire Department. The siren will be used to alert the Palomar Mountain community in case of a wildfire or other emergency.

This siren was removed from the roof of Vista Fire's Headquarters, Station #1. It was last sounded in 1984 after the San Diego Padres won the pennant. There were so many calls from the community, the siren was never sounded again in Vista.

Note the dust that comes out at first.... 25 years worth!

We are having the housing powdercoated right now and getting new brushes for it. We want to be able to notify the community in the event of a major incident, i.e. a wildland fire. Having grown up in the '50's it's pretty cool to hear that haunting sound again. Makes me want to duck and cover under a school desk!

WOW! I remember this siren on Vista station 1 way back in the 60's...i think Vista was still volunteer then and dispatched by North Coast Dispatch (later was JPA/Rancho fire and now NORCOM )...Great hearing this again!
