How to tie to very useful knots -- the square knot and the sheet bend. Knowing how to tie the square knot (aka -- "joining knot") to join two ropes together is used several times in the Cub Scout and Boy Scout requirements. The sheet bend, useful for joining two ropes of different thicknesses together, is used as a requirement for Bear Cub Scouts, but is useful to know for campouts where you may have many different ropes. These two knots are very similar, so if you know one, the other is easy.
