Sometimes it takes years for great music machines to be heard. I first saw this Helios in unrestored condition at the AIG Galleries. It has now been beautifully restored by the man shown in the video. In my opinion it is the best sounding Hupfeld orchestrion in the USA! It plays a late 1920's medley called, "From Ear to Ear". This is the sophisticated music that was played in Berlin before WWII in the late 1920's. It is one of just two style III class Helios' known to exist.

  • Super instrument incredibly well restored and regulated. I think I have to change my mind about my favorite instrument, ,Of course the arrangements help. Please tell me the circumstances of the instrument lost at sea on the way to Japan. When did this happen and How? thanks for wonderful video.

  • ok next Track i gonna change the chiming drum ..

    2 Hours later...

  • is das da ne Dunkelkammer? man sieht leider nix vom Gerät, schade

  • I didn't know a Hupfeld Helios Orchestrian could sound so thrilling and full..

Many thanks for letting the world of fans who love mechanical music instruments

get the opportunity to see and hear this great organ.. Keep up the good work.

  • Wow, this is excellent! This is what I have been looking for to listen to for ages!

  • I love this medley!

  • Whose collection is this?

  • These instruments are so rarely in tune, but this one blew me away! Bless you for saving this remarkable machine. And I'd love to know who the restorer is- his skill is obviously very great. From one organ builder to another- Bravo!

  • Do you have a list of all the different pieces of music in this melody? I tried searching for "From ear to ear" and did not find anything. I would love to hear each individual piece. I would eventually like to try to arrange at least some of this melody for a small concert band.

  • 1.34 "Dawn" comp. 1925 by the prolific popular music composer Herbert Stothart (1885 - 1949) and featured in the early sound musical movie "Golden Dawn" (1930).
