Pickers are often turned away, sometimes cordially, but sometimes with guns.

  • @trapach I can't count the number of times I've seen signs hanging on property stating that trespassers will be shot, this property protected by smith and wesson, or other witty signs like people found here at night will be found here in the morning. See something like that on property out here you'd be well served to take it seriously.

  • @trapach I as well have shot guns all my life ana am a veteran. Also, I didn't say that I necessarily agree with the actions but rather that it's not an unusual situation, at least around these parts. A lot of people particularly many that they deal with on their show live pretty far out in the sticks and are there because they like their privacy. Also I didn't say that I didn't think it was a huge deal but rather that they encounter very private and defensive people regularly.

  • @ampdoctor Wow. first off, I have shot guns all my life, own several, and come from the country. Secondly, anyone that knows anything about firearms knows you do not point a gun at anything you do not intend to shoot. If someone comes to your farm and knocks on your door and you don't want them there, you FIRST tell them to leave. If they don't, THEN you escalate the situation. You must have no experience with firearms if you think pointing one at someone is not a huge deal.

  • cont. They show a lot of respect to these folks and their story and history. These guys have made a living out of doing what they love and that's collecting. Most collectors just let all this stuff rot or hide it away. Frank and Mike pull it and preserve history. You all just need to think for five minutes before you make sweeping assumptions about these guys.

  • The people who argue up and down that they take advantage of old people are really looking at this from a very simplistic and narrow standpoint. Most of these people are hoarders. Even the ones with a nicely organized hoard. Do you really thinking older people benefit from being surrounded by so much stuff? It actually is more than likely causing respiratory distress. I've seen these people time and time again offer more money than the owner asked for in the first place.

  • @trapach pointing a gun at somebody stepping onto their farm or porch uninvited is about their right to be secure in their persons and property, and it gets protected by any means necessary! I guarantee you if they called the cops the cop would tell them to get off the guys property. If you don't understand the dynamic you're way too citified. Notice they said themselves that they're used to it and it's not a big deal.

  • Pointing a gun at someone is intent to murder. They should have called the cops.

  • @AndreaMN Aren`t you the special one. Makes me proud. Now go away.

  • @AndreaMN Loathesome..lol..and should be blocked..well block me then asslick. You only think your opinion matters in this world. Well guess again fool. You fall into a category as either a leftist that views free speech as free only if you agree with it, or you are a highly educated..wait while I laugh..college know it all that has all answers for every situation. OMG..I hope I am not offending you, my goodness that would just make me tear up and go running away. Damn loser you are.

  • @bvick777 actually I do, I work with our elderly and people constantly take advantage of them. These people....are no better than bullies. You need some anger management and perhaps some volunteering with elderly will give you a better understanding how vulnerable when it comes to situations such as this.
