The last episode of the Emma Peel era, or as some say, the first episode of the Tara King era. Starring Patrick Macnee, Diana Rigg and Linda Thorson.

  • a pleasure to see tara king and emma in the same episode (of course not the best, but still enjoyable- by any chance do you know the name of the episode where steed is under house arrest and tara has to solve it?)

  • no idea because I haven't seen any of the Tara episodes yet.

  • Now, wasn't that the most gentle of kisses ever?

And one can see that the grief on Patrick's face was for real, realizing that Diana would be gone for good.

  • I have been waiting to see this episode since June 1968, when I missed it the first time and never was able to view it till now, 41 years later!!

It's not bad; some plot holes, though - like how come the first time Sean gets shot, he remains conscious and can run outside to hail a cab, but every time after that, each person goes unconscious when shot?

But it's still touching to see Mrs. Peel leave. Notice that Steed calls her "Emma", which he nearly never did, when they say goodbye.

  • Nice way to end the show by kicking major ars

  • my goodness we had no idea how cataclysmic-ly huge that moment was as they said goodbye. the world would never be the same again.

  • Love how Peter Peel appears to be quite Steed-like in dress and manner. Steed sees this and somehow I think he feels better.

  • @reaper060670 - Season 6 was when it took place. Amazon UK have released the entire series in one DVD boxset collection set called "The Complete Avengers 50th Anniversary Edition". It contains all the surviving episodes plus a wealth of extras. The prints have been updated along with the sound quality. Well worth getting if you're a fan of the show.

  • @reaper060670 - Linda Thorson was on "The Avengers" during the show's final season and did a total of 33 episodes including "The Forget-Me-Knot" which served as the official hand over from Emma Peel to Tara King.

Being the series youngest leading lady, Thorson's inexperience did show through at first however she adpated quickly and her later performances became much stronger and more consistent as the season progressed. Scripting also let her down as the writers didn't have a good grasp on her

  • Which series did Emma leave and Tara take over?? I suppose u can get all these in a box set, eh? I must check that out for myself..lol..

  • @woohooboy Just read ur comment on The Tara King ear of The Avengers..I've asked many times on here but to no avail so I think I'll try asking U..How many episodes or series did she do with Steed(McNee)?? Thorson was very beautiful but I thought they made her look weak compared to Rigg. She was only 20 & fresh from Drama sch? She ws a gd actress I thought. U can only work with what u've got i suppose, eh? Some of the Ep i saw of her were weak in writing,etc..Not her fault..

  • Aww such a sad goodbye great episode.
