  • How do you compose? Is it by what you hear or think you hear in your mind and then do you work it out on the fretboard? Or is it .what you hear in your mind and your familiarity with the instrument let you easily recognize the correct placement on the fretboard or.... do you put it on paper and then you try to transcribe or make it work on the instrument? Really, am trying to figure what the easiest way to do it . or the best, most sensible way, if that makes sense. Thanks.

  • Hi manzam - mostly it's the first way you described; I have a musical idea and then work it out on the fingerboard.

The most accomplished way to compose is away from any instrument, purely pen to paper and imagining/hearing the sound in your head. Shostakovich composed like that but it's very difficult. I try it now and again but I don't usually like the results too much!

  • Very beautiful. Keep the work up. ;)

  • Absolutely Amazing! you have no Idea how hard it is for me to do something as amazing as this. I wish to compose a song from each of the scale roots and one day morph them into the most beautiful melody that the world has ever heard!. But a man can dream. A man can dream..

  • beautiful composition my friend. i hope one day i can master that Lydian scale as well as you. What kind of chords did you use?

  • nicely crafted tune.

  • Wonderful, truly magical sounding,

    Do keep writing Denian. :)

  • That's rather different from the guitar lullabies that we are used to. Very interesting composition Denian, always a pleasure listen to your contributions.

  • Hello Denian! ZZZZZZzzzz.... Oh! sorry, I think I went out for a second there... :-) But not long enough to hear that this is truly beautiful and sweet. WOW! Thank you! You have some nice harmonies there.
