Pianist Justin Sanner performs Es ist ein Ros' entsprungen (Lo, How A Rose E'er Blooming), Op. 122, No. 8 for organ by Johannes Brahms.
Piano: Kawai Digital Piano
Editions: G. Henle Verlag Urtext.
.
Speaking of the edition I used for this piece, some people have commented that the metronome marking for this piece is a mistake or a misprint. I would like to point out that Henle (the publisher of the authentic edition I used for this video) makes no mention whatsoever to the metronome marking being a "mistake" or "misprint" or anything other than how it appears printed on the page. It seems to me if there were some question about the metronome marking for this piece that Henle would have a comment about this in their score.

  • Beautiful! Works rather well on the piano

  • Well done :) I prefer to hear it on the organ, but your performance is very good. I don't know why the mark is so low. I gave 5 stars.

  • I'm glad you did it on piano (I also like to face the hard challange of transfering organ-music to piano). Bravo for the fine performance! I also agree with your natural tempo taken for this piece, no matter if it was indicated or not. By "natural tempo" I mean that the main melody could be sung at ease by choir.

  • This is hard to find, thank-you so much for posting! This song also sounds great with a Trombone Quartet. Thanks again!

  • Great view of S.Francisco!
