Your correct on the First-Person part, but shooter means from a gun, as classified by John Romero. Battlezone would be classified 1st-person tank sim, Hexen 1st-person melee, etc.

great game have plenty of good memories from this when i was a kid.only problem with the game was when you saved it then turn off the console when you come back so do the aliens but not your ammo
