[Boys Love/Yaoi] Ai no Kusabi 2010 trailer 2 (cancelled very likely)

BOYS LOVE = HOMOSEXUAL = GAY = YAOI
Series of 13 OVAs based on Rieko Yoshihara's novels. The DVDs were supposed to be released starting spring 2010 but it was postponed.

Since many people were asking and I don't want to repeat myself over and over again, I'll use the screen to reply as well as this description, though I know most people don't bother reading this part.
So why is the release date of Ai no Kusabi remake delayed?

From what I've read and heard, the production is on indefinite hold. Every release date that you will find on the internet from now on and that aren't posted at the Ai no Kusabi's official site are groundless.

It seems the economical crisis directly impacted the production. The staff has very likely been dispatched since the end of spring 2010. And that 8 mn preview episode might be the only thing we'll ever get of that remake. Just wait and pray but the chances for the project to be revived are very weak now.

I'll remind you that Boys Love is a niche market.

It's not Hentai. People confuse often Gay Hentai with Boys Love. Yaoi as a genre does not exist in Japan. There is Boys Love, which is made by women for women, and there is Gay hentai which is made by men for gay men. And there's hentai, which is made for men, who get turn on by anything regardless of the gender of the characters...

The BL productions are far from having as many funds as the hentai industry and even less when compared to the mainstream anime industry. So it's important for BL producers to sell lots of DVDs of the animes they release.

Small profit can just allow some future small project at best, nothing at all at worst.
Big profits allow more projects —with occasionnally better quality— and reassure financial investors as well as incite them to invest more into the BL productions.
