The Karma Balanced Drum.
(Patent pending)

Stainless steel wire rope tuning using fulcrum lug on the drum shell as a pivot to distribute tension from each tension rod to its neighbor, yielding balanced tuning across the entire drumhead.

Easy to tune and stays tuned. This drum is incredibly light with a thin Finnish Birch shell, resulting in a very phat 'woody' snare drum.

6x13, 12 ply Finnish Birch shell, 15 ply Finnish Birch hoops. Trick GS007

Fabricated entirely by Kevin 'Karma' Carman of Crazy 8s Drums of Phoenix, Arizona U.S.

  • looks a little out of round

  • @mutantthrash Nope. It is as round as any other drum. The woven rope creates a bit of an illusion though, so that is perhaps what you are seeing. Thanks for stopping by.

  • Looks like a pain in the ass to change heads on...Finish looks strange too...?

  • @SVESTALITHUANIA It does take a bit more time to put a head on it, but because the lugs on the hoops come right out the head comes off very quickly. Just need to loosen one tension rod and you can take the head off. On future drums, I will make a change to allow the head to go on more easily. Thanks for checking it out!

  • people dont buy drums on how they look, so show us how they sound next time.

  • @heavymetal999 People ALWAYS buy drums on how they look. If they didn't, then all drums would look the same. Thanks for stopping by though, and I hope you enjoyed the looks of the drum.

  • Do you really have a patent in the works on this?

I have the sketches for a design for a drum that is extremely similar to this one that I drafted up this June.

Its frustrating to see that someone may have beaten me to this.
