My speaker repair..
This speaker Just dissintegrated infront of my eyes one day. (to much bass) Which sucks cos its a sub woofer.. Shouldnt dissintergrate..
So i repaired it the best i could.. "this is my cheap ass repair. i wanst about to go buy a new mounting rubber surround, Would just get blown out again any way) I used dryed out baby wipes 1st , (Cut cuved sttrips layer it on, Clear nail varnish then a nother layer and repeat. 2-3 rimes) Then i used some jaycloths To cover it all in a cricle. "glue and jay cloths then varnished those 2" After that dried i glued more strips of jay cloths to the cone and then to the gasket, Waited for it to dry and finaly painted it all with nail varnish to make it stiff "i ran out of clear stuff" Its not excelent but atleast it works again.. "the last part of the video has the bass notes that origionaly dissintegrated the speaker" 3:12

  • The story is.. I was playing some music "jumpinng jack frost" to test the sub woofer. and it was doing fine unt the bass at 3:12 started.. The ruber surround mounting simple blew out huge strips at a time.. So i sat there and watched it lauging at the stupid sub woofer. after it was prety much totaly ruined i turned it off. and decided the ruber mounting would be a waste of moneu as it would simply blow out again

  • So i went to get some baby wipes. And let them dry out. I then cut them in to curved strips about 4 inches long I glued them to the cone and to where the gasket was. Then i coated them with clear nail varnis. then put some more baby wipe strips on top over lapping the seams. and painted them with clear nail varnish. did that 3-4 times, I let that all dry up and harden, then i cut jay cloths to the same relitive speck and did 1 layer of those on top. Finaly i cut strips of jay cloths and

  • Glued them to the cone and pulled them slightly tight to the gasket and glued them down there. 1 at a time going counter clock wize over lapping 1 with the next slightly. After letting the glue dry i went to coat it in clear nail varnish, Unfortunatly i had run out. So i had to use some coloured nail varnish. but atleast you can see how much is used because of that. "you do use lots" The varnish makes the cloth stiff so reduces the travel of the cone preventing it from poping out.
