Miramar Air Show 04 - CH-53 Super Stallion Lands a Humvee

The world famous annual MCAS Miramar Air Show in San Diego. This CH-53 Super Stallion is a heavy transport unit. As you can see. It can be used to transport a Humvee, or any vehicle up to 16 tons. It can also be used to retrieve downed aircraft. It's loaded with weaponry, such as the M198 howitzers.

the armament on a 53 is 2 50 cals on the doors and one on the ramp. I think you mean to say that they can `lift` howitzers.. although that would be cool if they retrofitted one on that big ol bird :-)

@NastyNatey I was on a CH53E a few times while it lifted my unit plus all gear, and our M198 plus powder and rounds, besides using live grenades I never felt more like I was going to die while on that frikken thing.. amazing craft.

a few years ago we were working as outside contractors at Sikorsky aircraft in Stratford CT, we'd see these things take off so quickly you almost couldn't accept what you were seeing -it really hits you that something this large moving off the line so sudden must take enormous reserves of power -considered powerful, a 4 bladed Blackhawk has two 1900 Shaft horsepower (SHP) engines however the 53E has three engines, each at nearly 5000 SHP which drives 7 blades that are 8 stories across

capacity before the new seats were installed was 24 and 55 with centerline seats, I unfortunately left before this happened, could be different now.

the 53e can carry up to 53 combat ready marines. Typically for safety reasons they limit themselves to 20. You don't want to lose 53 marines if one gets shot. and yes. it'll lift your house if you piss it off

Why would a chinook take much longer? I think a CH-53 can carry more like 40 troops anyway

seriously if these choppers can carry up to 20 men to a battle it would be in am out before you know but a Chinook would be down and 20 seconds later it would be off into the sky or the dirt
