This weeks Ladbrokes Football Preview focuses on the first major cup final of the season as Aston Villa take on Manchester United at Wembley in the Carling Cup showpiece.

Manchester United will be without England defender Rio Ferdinand on Sunday after he suffered a twinge in his back.

Anderson's knee in jury will keep him sidelined for the rest of the season whilst Ryan Giggs (arm) is also out.

Sir Alex Ferguson will have to make do without Nani, who is suspended, too while Rafael looks set to get the nod for his first major appearance in a final.

United have never successfully defended a cup competition before, but having beaten Spurs in a penalty shoot out last season, it could happen this term.

However, the Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill has an excellent record at Wembley down the years and is bidding to create a shock victory.

Skipper Stiliyan Petrov looks increasingly likely to get the go ahead after the Bulgarian resumed training following a virus.

Villa have no major fresh injury worries, and goalkeeper Brad Friedel, central defender James Collins and striker Emile Heskey will come into contention after being rested for the Crystal Palace FA Cup tie in midweek.

Reserve goalkeeper Brad Guzan has played in all of Villa's previous Carling Cup ties but O'Neill appears to be favouring the experienced Brad Friedel for the Final.
