I saw New moon in London with Ben (steamedguy) and Kelly (DanishKelly) and we share our thoughts before and after seeing it.

I contemplated doing an extra vlog session on the film when I had given it all some additional thought but decided not to. The main thing I'd wanted to say that the argument of this being an in-between film awaiting the next and the final doesn't hold up. The middle-film in most trilogies for example are the best ones in their series. The empire strikes back is the best Star wars film (possibly cause it was the only one that Lucas did not direct at all) and The two towers was the best in the Lord of the rings series (while awaiting The hobbit). This is because a middle-film does not need to present or finish a story, just keep the interest and go deeper into character and plot.

To say that you have to read the book is a false claim in every sense. Any adaptation from one medium to the next must be able to stand on its own. To be familiar with the previous medium can surely be a validation and an extension of the experience, and most importantly a very different one, but it needs to function on its own. This film had way too little character sustainability and I hope that Eclipse makes up for some of these.

I don't shit on films that easily, but this one had far too few plot-shakers and character justification to work as a stand alone film.

  • Loved the movie - loved the book even more. Just putting it out there.

  • you know, looking back at it now, I don't seem to be bashing it as much as I thought, we're just talking about very random things.

So are you team Jacob or team Eddie?

  • Twilight was astonishing ! Watch it now at twilight-now . com

  • Actually, I was expecting it to be better, and it seems like a lot of people had that feeling. I do think that any film adaptation should not rely on reading the book, but I get how it extends the experience. I do hope the next one makes more sense cause this was kinda sleepy and inconsistent.

But hey, I love "Don't be a menace to society while drinking booze with the boys in da hood" and there's a saying in Sweden: "smaken är som baken (taste is like the butt) ..divided :) woop

  • So yeah.. if they made the movies as if no one knew who edward cullen is, they would get kind of boring.. and since everyone knows already, why not assume everyone knows? Meh.

Finallyyy, I don't think you're part of the.. group of people they're aiming for. To 11 year old girls any movie with.. like.. violence is not that interesting. And you wouldn't even watch movies made for 6 year olds.. This movie is clearly made for.. teen girls xD

    Yeahh.. so.. that's why I didn't leave a comment :p

  • Did I not comment on this? heheh xD ( I was just checking teh bwfnl-mail :p)

The thing.. it's not really a fair review. Going in somewhere expecting it to be bad, is just.. kind of lame..

I'm not a twilight fan (AT ALL), but I do absolutely think you should read the books first. Maybe this isn't the case with some movies, but it is with this one (and Harry Potter, for example). I think this move really assumes you have read the books before... blaa, I'll just continue in next comment xD <3

  • Hver sin smag! :D

  • I had a feeling they were going to ruin Jacob's part in the movie( which they did) I just had no idea how bad it was going to be. I had no idea they were also going to ruin bella's and Ed's parts as well. basically, the whole darn movie!!!

  • thank you for pointing out the dancing :)

  • you sure do, girl... you sure do
