I love those self tacking jibs with a boom on the foot , look at that , like a board , 100% efficient , safe , controlable , easy to reef - super !

We enjoyed sailing our 505 on the same course as the S Boats in May. I have never sailed one, but have sailed a gaff-rigged design from somewhat the same period perhaps a bit older)--the Winter Harbor Knockabout. To me, there are really two totally great forms of sailing: blasting around in a dinghy--especially a fast one, and sailing a proper wooden boat, preferably with lots of bronze.

I just saw "Allegro" in a Columbus Day race vid. Sailing like a champ!!

Debating whether to jybe or not when you go around the bouy that's ahead?? Love the original halyard winch.

What is the dilemma? It seems to be sailing very well.
Hi 19keel25,
Actually, we tacked further upwind upon reaching the bouy and sailed underneath the Throgs Neck Bridge.
Almost all of the hardware on her is original. Look for a new post soon of a friend of ours on another S-boat in 30 knots of wind.
