Some really old diesel locomotives,one of which was driven with two drive shaft's.It has a transmission/transfer case with two drive shaft's exiting either end and connect's with each differential,just like a car!

  • Some you can get in,but the nicer ones are locked up.There are two steam engines at the museum that you can climb up in the cabs of.

  • The Orange and White units lettered JW are from Jim Walters Corp. Those units ran on the old Mary Lee line from Birmingham to Black Creek, picking up the Cane Creek Branch to coal mines in West Jefferson County, Later taking Coke from Jim Walters Resources, now known as Sloss to the Alabama Power Steam Plant in West Jefferson.

    If you go to Bhmrails.info, there is a link to a magazine article which shows those units in operation on the Mary Lee branch..

  • The last locomotive shown is a very rare Euclid Road Machinery Co.50/55 ton center cab. Euclid Rod Machinery Co. was in the Cleveland, Ohio area and later became Terex.
