This is one of my arrangements celebrating the Heathen gods and goddesses.

Odin may not be normally associated with dancing, but Loki does mention an episode of the Warfather dressing in skirts and dancing with witches, and as Odin is obsessed with the search for knowledge and magical power, this tale rings true.

The tune is shamanic in style, its simple repeating themes designed to lull the mind into trance. Drums flutes and rattles would all have been available to the early Medieval magic worker.

The music was created using Garageband software.

The photographs are all my own with cartoon effects added with IMovie software. The nature scenes are all from the Buckinghamshire Chilterns, Wain Hill, Combe Hill, and the Camp Gerrards Cross. The cavern is the Hell Fire Caves in West Wycombe. The Odin symbol was sewn by Sorcha or the Chiltern Kindred.

  • Thank you!

  • Yes you are welcome DemonsDevour, have fun!

The track is composed of 7 tracks, the only special effects used are volume control on individual tracks and thickening on some of the drums. Most of the pre recorded loops are from the World Music upgrade for the program, much better for the folky traditional effect.

I know very little about music mixing. Thankfully Garageband is very easy to use. I bought the World Music upgrade which is great for shamanic style sounds. I used seven tracks using the following loops, Shogun Shakuhachi, Tigris Zimble, Nian Hua Woodblocks, Scottish Bass Drum (on two tracks), Native American Flute.
