This version of the film theme has more attack than Barry's album version - Barry's is smoother - but BOTH were produced by John.

  • I used to hitch hike from Cardiff to Lonon to go to is gigs in the Bulls head Barnes . I remember Alan price giving me a free taxi from there to Ronnies and buying me a pint. Happy days, exept for the fact that I became an organ player!

  • @richcardiff - I recall once Phil Woods was set to record an album at the Bulls Head with him - but Phil got turned around at Heathrow 'cause his visa wasn't right or some such nonsense. Poor old Alan came onstage and said, "Phil can't be with us [for the reason stated] so it's just me, I'm afraid.... I wish I was dead!" People were disappointed - but he got a laugh - and did a GREAT couple of sets.

  • Ah the rockola jukebox, spent many a happy hour trying to repair them....still got some bits lying atound in the shed

  • @digimaan - When I moved on from my job servicing them (ALL juke box engineers GET one - it's the LAW) I made sure I took several relays, tubes and a wobble-plate spring WITH me. The ones I haven't used are still in its CASHBOX!

  • Fantastic, what an incredible player Haven is. I still miss "that sound". Thanks so much for posting.

  • @kaferere - My pleasure. A couple of times in the '70s, I saw him perform live in the Bull's Head, Barnes. Haven's organ, in that intimate setting, sounds VISCERAL!

  • music great...absolutely love that Juke Box!

  • Oh very nice/

  • is there any cds of alan ..top post

  • @Raves0From0The0Grave Yeah, I have no idea why he didn't attract the credit he deserved. IMO his improvisation back in the day was right up there with Tubby Hayes and the other greats. I saw him live quite a few times but alas never during his Lowrey Heritage days. I have quite a few obscure recordings of his from Jazz club and radio broadcasts, some Heritage, some Viscount/ARP but don't know if he would be offended if I posted them. If I pluck up the courage I'll give you a nod. Thanks again.
