Crews closed I-405 in Bellevue, one direction at a time, for four nights during the last two weeks to set the girders over the interstate for the new NE 12th Street bridge. This time lapse video shows some of the work being done. It took 45 men and women to safely place ten 100-ton girders over I-405.
This bridge work is part of a larger project aimed to reduce congestion by building new multi-level "braided" ramps to separate vehicles entering and exiting northbound I-405 between NE 8th Street and SR 520 in Bellevue. More information about the project can be found at: www.wsdot.wa.gov/projects/i405/ne8thtosr520/
