@ricardoieci Thanks. The snare is a Pearl 5.5x14" MHX which came with the kit (2002, limited edition). In this video, the snares are actually turned off and there's no muffling applied.

@FullForceDrummer I haven't had any problems with rust yet, but the instrument hasn't been taken out of my studio. I think a lite coat of oil would do the trick, but I really wouldn't want oil splashing on my drums, heads and cymbals. Have you tried asking the manufacturer what they recommend?
