Exposed Diolkos & waves - 12 febr 2011

Waves from the Corinthian Gulf CAN play havoc with the initial parts of Diolkos, as is quite clear in this video. HOWEVER, it is the wakes of passing vessels that constitute not only a quite frequent and violent source of damage, but also about 10.000 financial crimes every year!!!! In either case, the devastation of Diolkos is due TO THE CORINTH CANAL, which has been demolishing this unique archaeological site for long decades, "under the wing" of the Greek MInistry of Culture!!!
In this video, the largest of the three initial parts of Diolkos that were excavated in the second half of the 1950s, devastated after years of abandonment and false assertions of care.

AMIDST NEW PROMISES, the ordeal of the defenseless monument continues.
Here is part of an international report I sent out in the summer of 2010, in order to PRESS Greek Authorities to action: "The Authorities are never short of promises. They just slide from one (false) promise to another, often not bothering even to make sense!... Every new person in charge pretends to set things straight by pretending to decide this or that (or to make "a new start"!). Although seemingly addressing the monument's needs, their decisions REALLY reflect what they think will be asked of them by their critics, the international community or a nosy Judge... After "deciding" they can sit back and relax, confident that they have a piece of official paper that "testifies" their interest for their innocent victim!!!!"

Please beware!!!!! The Ministry of Culture makes it a habit to give promises which PROVE empty later. Actually they have the habit of MANIPULATING whatever "item" of care (usually totally fictitious but also some real steps that they have been FORCED to take) in order to FURTHER ABBANDON the monument!!!!

Το Υπουργείο δίνει πάλι υποσχέσεις. Αλλά η μέχρι τώρα πορεία, που οδήγησε σε αυτό το χάλι, είναι μια σειρά από αλληλοκαλυπτόμενες εξαπατήσεις. Έχω καταγγείλει και επίσημα ότι το μόνο που φαίνεται να σχεδιάστηκε ξανά και ξανά ήταν η ΕΓΚΑΤΑΛΕΙΨΗ του πολύπαθου μνημείου. Γι' αυτό καμιά υπόσχεση δεν έχει πλέον αξία εάν δεν γίνει πράξη... Και το ΠΩΣ θα γίνει πράξη έχει επίσης σημασία....

Αυτά είναι τα χάλια μας !!!! Κανένα ενδιαφέρον απο το επίσημο Κράτος !! Λεφτά υπάρχουν μονο για τα πανηγυράκια της EUROVISION .....
