i would love to live in this era with all the music and the clothing. an old lady spoke to me on the bus today and just told me about her days going to watch the jam and how all the mods used to dress dead smart and now look at us, she was basically saying we all looked scruffy and i couldnt agree more with her. now a days people walking around with their 'hype' and 'swag' clothing on its awful. the world was at its best when it was simple, xboxs, garage band and all this shit ruined us.

you can still see paul weller and the others and you can still wear those clothes AND you have the internet and the xbox which people back then would have loved to have access to imagine how amazing they would find those things. how exactly did they 'ruin' us? if you dont like them dont use them? and what kind of complaint is 'the world used to be simple' thats just hipster pretentious bullshit

Well maybe she's right or maybe the fact that society became more consumer orientated from The Jam's inception and to their demise a condition which only accelerated in the years to follow.

In other respects it was an era of lower standards of living, more socially backwards and deference to rich parasites. Absolutely there are things about the past we can miss but I'm rather suspicious of this rosy tinted view, it's clear that Weller wasn't at peace with the world back then

Hate to ruin it, but grew up listening to Jam new. We were nostalgic about missing out on the social activism the generation before. They were nostalgic about the greatest generation with purpose in WWII. That generation....

    Nothing ruined us or you.
