Being a FOOTBALL referee is great. "Soccer" is a made-up word for stupid americans, who would otherwise mistake it for American Football (which is not at all played by foot - or with a ball, for that matter)

Much of the info in this video applies to becoming an American football official as well.
To become a football referee is simple. First, you need to find a local football officials association. When join the association, they will train you on the rules and mechanics. Depending on your association, you may start working high school football games your first season!
