Famiglia Grande (Grand Family) is a group of mobile sleeping units created by Hong Kong artist Kacey Wong which enable a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 children) to live off the urban streets temporary. All units were highly crafted and meticulously finished borrowing aesthetic from racing automobiles. The work was inspired by the recent economical recession where some rich people loose their fortune overnight. The poses you see here are inspired by real estate commercials from Hong Kong which is always about projecting the image of luxury, grandeur, and power. My question is: if this super rich are finally forced to live off the street, how could they still maintain a façade of high style and good look. This group of artwork is not trying to solve any real social problems; rather it is a critique on obsession of materialism and illusion, enjoy.
