I love humans more than animals therefore I want to drag their suffering out longer? Uh-huh....

  • the difference is this: its nobodys right to "put down" another human. Human life is more important than animal life. If a person decides ON HIS OWN to end it...thats another thing; assistance may be rendered. Its nobodys business to judge the quality of another persons life...If suffering were the only quality needed to "put somebody down" than disabled people, homeless people, etc. would be "put down"...by his own admission, M13 was suffering greatly when he first came to Taiwan

  • @MargaritasAntesPorco Yep, I was suffering when I first got to Taiwan. BUT THERE WAS A GOOD CHANCE THINGS WOULD GET BETTER....and they did. You think my father inlaw tied to a bed and force fed through tubes every single day is going to get better? Big difference man.

  • I like animals better than humans. Animals don't piss me off

  • lool i can guaren-fuckin-tee you XD you're hilarious

  • So true. I agree with you 100%. However, I'm a bit scared that if euthanasia would be leagalized, some doctors would use it wrong. Here in Finland it would be very risky. Doctors want to save money in every single thing...

  • However, I think just choosing to go w/o any drastic measures is way, way different than "choosing to die". Pain can fuck w/ your head, and it isn't all that big a leap from "kindly" killing old people to killing "inconvenient" patients. I don't think it's right that we put down dogs either, we just don't want to spend the money on them 9 times out of 10. Dying w/o feeding tube, resuscitation, or dramatic measures is just way different than intentionally killing someone outright in my opinion.

  • I half agree with this video... I believe people should be "allowed to die" with heavy pain control, but I do not believe it is anybody's "right to die" or that anyone should be allowed to choose to die unnaturally. My uncle got leukemia and decided not to undergo treatments b/c the chances of recovery were slim. He made the unselfish decision to leave money to his daughter rather than spend it all on radiation; he was dead in 5 days. It was hell on the family, but he was happy with his decision

  • Speaking of... How's BaoBao?

  • @delacob i guess what i'm trying to say is the whole notion of "rights" is an anthrocentric invention. Nature, "red in tooth and claw", does not understand nor honor our so-called "self-evident" Rights to "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness". If you're stranded by yourself on a desert island the whole idea of rights goes out the window. Rights only mean something in the context of a human society...

  • @delacob didn't see the movie--but interesting hypothetical. Aliens do not "have a right" to destroy Man even if they were WAY smarter. But that would be irrelevant, becuz aliens would do as they pleased (doubt they would respect our "rights"). Also i don't believe Man "has a right" to destroy Animal unto extinction. The Law of Nature is Life feeds on Life--there are many Animals btw, which given the opportunity, would hunt and destroy Man, even unto our extinction. Animals don't know "rights"

  • @silverhawkroman As do I, but a lot of people don't. It just depends on the person, really.

  • @MargaritasAntesPorco we're all animals and homeless people could bounce back a brain dead vegetable can not

  • @MastaKadaj i tend to try and replicate the same accent i hear from the person i'm speaking to.

  • Haha Mordeth! When you were learning Taiwanese did you ever use a word or phrase for a long time (or short) and you were using it wrong or it wasn't what you thought it meant?

  • @sniperchen Not really different than a foreigner living in America or any other English speaking country and still retaining the accent. Accents tend to stick unless a conscious effort is made to get rid of it. Linguistics are fun! =D

  • they overdosed my aunt on morphine when we put her in a nursing home

  • I think people should have the right to decide if they want to live or not. People who are in extreme pain, and who are also mentally capable, should be able to request to be put down. Lethal injection is painless, right?

Old people in nursing homes (who have lost their mind) are another story. They don't know who they are, so do they know what they want? Most likely not, so we can't kill them if they request to die. But is keeping them alive that much better?

    Interesting topic as always!

  • I remember a video just like this a long time ago. I agree with you, but I think people put animals down because they have no say in the matter. People can say "Nope, I want to live! My life sucks because I'm paralized below my neck, but I want to live!". You can't put a person down (At least in American and Canada at least (as far as I know)) without their consent, unless they are in a coma.

On the other hand, you have people who WANT to die, but can't because they are physically unable.

  • PETA would flag this for un-just treatment of platypuses

  • @MargaritasAntesPorco We're smartest by far. By chance, have you seen the movie Independence Day? If so, did you root for the aliens? Did they have a right to destroy us because they were an order of magnitude smarter? We can't stop a comet from destroying us (and we might just destroy our entire planet ourselves).

FYI, I agree with you. I just like philosophical musings. Man knows much but is often poor at evaluating his own reasoning.

  • @delacob o.k let me ask you a different Q. then--what animal, besides humans, has as powerful skills in modifying (and improving) their environment? Man is higher than Animal because he uses brain power to cease to be a victim of random malevolent forces of Nature. animals are unable to do that.

  • @MargaritasAntesPorco I think most other animals have an aversion to eating their own species.

  • On a lighter note ...

Your Mandarin skills are quite good. Though the accent is still a bit strong for someone whom, according to your "University Nightlife" video, has lived in Taiwan for over a decade.

  • @swat7853 let me ask you something....would you eat cow meat(beef)? would you eat pig eat(pork)?...now,would you eat human meat?.....why not? because in your heart you know human life is more valuable. for one thing because at least some humans have the power of reason...

  • But but but Mordeth, what you're saying goes against my believes. The world is supposed to be magical and glittery. I'm sure those old people will magically get better. I'll just use positive thinking. You'll see, God will save them. Booohooohoooooo.........

  • While I do agree with you completely about letting people end their suffering, how do you feel about people who do not want to have kids and reproduce? I personally do not want children, nothing wrong with them just not for me. I don't care about money or having a bunch of friends, I just want to live my life be happy, and take care of my girlfriend. would I then be failing at life?
