Balbastre knew the new pianoforte and might have used it. Also because it was more the instrument of the revolution in Paris and not the harpsichord, which was linked with the nobility.

  • Hello,

If I'm correctly informed, de Caze (also Suzanne, Lugeac etc) were real persons. Do you happen to know why Balbastre named his pieces after them? Were they notable persons of their day or something like that? Do the pieces "describe" them in any way?

  • it is something all french composers did at that time, you can imagine why.

  • Very fine! Thank you.

  • welcome!

  • Hi Kathy, thanks for your nice comment!

You did notice very good, that I use the image of a woman for the more subtle passages...

  • Thanks friend!

  • I like your inflections and phrasing very much. Also, I like the way the paintings change according to the mood. Very beautiful video. Kathy
