The purpose of this video blog is to explore the definition of manhood. As men, we feel that we have been conditioned to behave a certain way. As young boys, we learn what are generally accepted behaviors for boys. We learn that it is not ok to cry or to show any emotions. As young boys we learn that we have to be tough and strong; it is not good to show signs of weaknesses. We receive these messages from our parents, the schools, the media, sports and by the heroes we idolize as children. Our purpose here is to explore these learned dynamics and to begin a dialogue that asks the question: What does it mean to be a man? We do not pretend to know the answers and we do not think that there is a wrong or right answer to this question. We purely want to explore what this means to us as men.
Through the power of dialogue we hope to answer some of the unanswered questions that we have and possibly redefine our understanding of what manhood is. The power to change lies within us all; we just need the will to do so. We're all in this together!
Thanks!
special thanks to Jason Shaw (Youtube user Audionautix) for sharing the music http://www.youtube.com/user/audionautix
I WISH I had someone growing up who taught me how to be tough and strong, instead I had an emasculated pushover father like most of my friends and it caused me a lot of hardships. Thanks to the conditioning of people like you punk ass motherfuckers. Being strong allows you to conquer adversity that comes at you and enjoy life fools

You said "we live in a patriarchal society."
Wrong.
That is the lie propagated by the matriarchy within which I (and probably you) live.
Obama is not a success story. He is a feminarcissist (not a good thing). "Change" for him is only a word useful for tricking millions of people who still believe corrupt western (matriarchal) governments can be "fixed."

I may be wrong, but acknowledging your mother's responsibility for what is missing in your life, would be the first step toward moving ahead.

Your mother is responsible for your not having your father in your life as a child or even now.
She was, no doubt, aided by the feminarcissists who bully the matriarchal western governments pompous pawn politicians into not equality but entitlement beyond equality.
By the way, corporal punishment is not a necessary or effective parenting technique.
If you were out of hand as a child, it is because your mother did not provide consistent and reality-based parenting for you.
