Ted Lipien, president of FreeMediaOnline.org and former journalist with the Voice of America Polish Service, discusses how the Iranian regime could improve political and economic situation in Iran if it released imprisoned Iranian labor leaders Mansour Osnaloo and Mahmoud Salehi. In the 1980s, the communist government in Poland imprisoned Solidarity labor leader Lech Walesa but eventually had to release him and enter into negotiotions with Walesa and his union. Lech Walesa became Poland's president. The imprisonment of Iranian labor union leaders is a clear sign that the Iranian regime is facing a crisis, both political and economic. The regime could help itself and the Iranian people if it released imprisoned trade union leaders and all other political prisoners. Otherwise, the economic crisis in Iran will only get worse.
