Anna's Humming Birds stay year-round here in western Oregon. During a cold snowy December, they would frequently feed from our deck feeder. It was a job keeping the feeder thawed for them.
@wolfysluv The Anna's Hummingbird is the only one to spend the winter this far north. From what I've read, their range area has been expanding starting early in the 20th century and they didn't winter here 60 years ago, but due to planting winter flowers and putting out humming bird feeders they do now.
So crazy. Why would hummers stay in Oregan of all places, but migrate away from milder climates such as in TN? So puzzling. Where do you suppose they are able to find food in nature up there?
