This is an abbreviated version of a longer video found here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7vegRhto2vs

Following the massive flooding and tornadoes that swept through Iowa in 2008, Iowa United Methodists have been responding to the disaster. Many Iowans as well as church and college mission teams from around the country have traveled to Iowa to help with the recovery, but more help and funding is urgently needed. There are still over 5,000 homes to be rebuilt in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, alone.

This video shows the devastation, the work that has been ongoing and the large amount of work yet to be done. Viewers are provided with information about what they can do to help.

This video was produced and narrated by Eric Wylie with photos and video supplied by the Iowa Annual Conference. Eric Wylie Productions: http://www.ewproductions.com

  • It's a good video, but it seems to focus on Cedar Rapids when a larger portion of the state was impacted. Wouldn't have been more effective to include the statistics from the entire state instead of just one city?

  • You have a good point. The map was intended to show how widespread the disaster was; then I wanted to use a couple of cities as examples. In the longer version of this video (link in the info box, upper right) we also show what happened in the rural community of Oakville, Iowa. When you try to list or show all of the towns and cities affected (or get an accurrate count) someplace invariably gets left out, and that creates an issue, so this was an attempt to avoid that. Thanks for watching.
