  • I was stationed there from '64 thru '65 -- snow looks the same. Then PCS'd to Goose Bay --- the fun never ended!

Came back for a visit just after closing --- very strainge feeling - like the lights had just been turned out. I will miss everyone, and that short, intense time.

  • I lived there from 8th grade to 10th grade, back in the early 60's .. on base .. school in Limestone. I remember walking through walls of snow in front of our house .. and how when it melted in the spring it would be in the 40s when we would put on shorts .. the earth would turn into mud for awhile. Since then, I lived in snow only one ore time .. Long Island .. then went to Florida and now I'm in California .. LOL

  • OH WOW!!!

My Dad was stationed at Loring when I was a kid and actually worked in that hanger. I can remember going to the air shows in front of it in the early 80s. Giant B-52s parked out front. One year a guy repelled (sp?) from the top and I remember thinking how cool that was.

Makes me so sad to see how it looks now.

  • nice kind of sad to see the rust on the haangers though. i was just there in april of 09 same spot eating some rendezvous pizza.

  • cool and scary

  • I live right next to this place, wow what a snowy winter it was last year. hopefully this ones a little less harsh! doesn't look so good with how cold it is already, though!

  • Oh how this brings back memories!!!! I was stationed there from 90-93. Typical Maine winters though...lol. I miss being there!!!

  • Nice reflection of the Arch Hanger; the tail door used to fall out on the north side.

I had to leave my housing unit via the 2nd floor window, to shovel snow away front the front door. The Arch Hanger was the only place we could fully enclosed a bomber without the tail sticking out.

I was hoping to see the "Ball Park" area and DOCK #25 but the north end of the base may be long gone for newer structures? My years; 1968-1971 and 1973-1975 42nd Bomb Wing.
