@johnathon124 The accident was caused by the flight crew landing in that weather. The MD-11's maximum crosswind component, as they well knew, was 26 knots. On this day, the component for the runway in use was over 36 knots. Hardly surprising it flipped.

On 22 August 1999, China Airlines Flight 642, a McDonnell Douglas MD-11, flipped over while landing at Hong Kong airport during a typhoon. Three people were killed.

@orz487 you cant say the, the typhoon did play a role in it, but it was also pilot error.

No, it's not typhoon's wrong. The pilot shouldn't landed during typhoon hitting. I think if he don't landing, the accident will not occur
