Gymnastics *No happy Ending*

A montage featuring: Svetlana, Hollie Vise, Hilary Grivich, Kim Zmeskal, and Kristie Phillips. These are all gymnasts who had a dissappointing or devastaing end to their career. While I view Sveta's silver AA Olympic medal as an incredible end to her career, I know she was dissappointed to miss out on the last medal that should have been hers four years earlier. Hilary Grivich was a world championship team member in 1989 and placed 8th at the 1992 Olympic Trials, 2 places short of the team. She died a few years later in a car accident. Hollie Vise missed out on the 2004 Olympic team, and left elite gymnastics after that to compete in college. Kristie Philllips is featured briefly, yet hers is one of the saddest stories. After being touted the next Mary Lou, she burned out a year early, and missed the 1988 Olympic team by one place. She quit the sport and spent several years suffering depression and eating disorders before trying to take her own life.

Hey im a gymnast. I have been a gymnast for 15 years. Its so hard mast ering a trick that you mastered before and cannot get. I understand it ive been through it. This is so tough. I cry every night i come home.

shit :/ . the whole fckin' life in training and whole day training , and u wait for big event such as olympics and similar, and in that moment screw everything up. :/

Gymnastics is such a hard sport and a lot of people quit because they don't think they can take it anymore. If you're torn between quiting or just sucking it up, think about this, why would we sacracfice all the good times for one bad time? If you think that you have more bad times than good times, then go ahead and quit, but just remember that once you quit, your done.....

I am too a gymnast.

I can do back flips and stuff,

from the time I was little I was a gymnast.

I learned my first backhand spring I was in third/fourth grade...

This in my opinion IS the hardest sport there can be.

It took me years to master all these stunt's...

Everyday I give these girls credit for all they have mastered this is not easy. I would know... I could never do the bars only the backhand springs and stuff.
