Magic Dingus Box!

Its called foggy mountain breakdown you idiots

I caught them at the old Lone Star in NYC way back. Great allstar band with no one stepping on anyone else's toes and everybody keeping up the pace. Not easy to find this caliber of playing.

I listen to this, I realize I got 2 choices. 1.chuck the guitar in the dumpster, or... 2. hit the wood shed. HMMMMMMM, ok i choose the wood shed . see y'all in about 100 years

I saw him twice, once in NYC circa 1988 and once in Chicago circa 1992... I can vouch that he WAS that fast and did things on the Gui-tar that mortal men cannot do. He was like Roy Clark and Hendix having a baby and then that baby nursing from Les Pauls teets. The guy was incredible for sure.

Nice one, sounds like they're takin' off on "Orange Blossom Special." To the guy who was surprised at Gatton playing a Les Paul: shoot, when I used to go see him around DC every week or so back in the 1970s, that's all he played, that gorgeous LP with the "Magic Dingus" box and the Leslie setup. He must have switched to the Telecaster years later. Of course, he could play anything. First time I ever saw him, he opened with a guitar solo, then a banjo solo, then a pedal steel solo!

Emmblazed!!

wow danny gatton.... just one of the best ever so sad we lost him so young.

@IJmackdaddy Its not sped up, his ears are slowed down!LOL Maybe the brain is slowed down too! I sure wish the whole performance was here. Buddy Emmons was not quite as adept at the C6 neck, but this is on the E9 if I am not mistaken, and both he and Gatton are on fire.

Chicken Picken on speed! Emmons is back on the E9 neck and is more at home there. I sure wish there was more to these than 20 seconds of a 4 minute song! Jazz boogie, Western Swing, Rockabllliy, Psychobilly, and other forms of C&W that are NOT cryin in your beer music by a long shot. Gotta love it! This is not quite as hard as it looks, nor as fast, but its not easy either, just the result of lotsa work and practice, and the gift of being able to improvise really well. Where's the rest?
my vote for hottest guitar player ever. And he doesn't even wear a mask.
