Amazing quality for when it was recorded. Still by far the best recording, at least for this movement, on YouTube.

@vanderbilt887 Yeah, I believe you're right and shiveringflower is wrong. Luckily for us, though, pianos are much louder than harpsichords, so the G minor concerto sounds just fine!
-
That's interesting. I've heard the exact opposite, namely that Bach was dissatisfied with his keyboard transition of this violin concerto (the G minor, I believe it is), since the strings too much dominated the piece and no real development of the harpsichord part could take place - according to Bach, that is. I've lost the source...
-
@shiveringflower Bach was dissatisfied with his violin concerti? You've aroused my curiosity. I don't suppose you have a source?
-
@polymath7 Agreed, although Bach himself was unhappy with them and later rewrote them as keyboard concerti, which he felt worked much better.
-
@polymath7 waah! he was busy writing the suites for cello solo... and these are not enough either D:
-
@polymath7 geesh, what do you want? He wrote 6 amazing Sonatas and Partitas!
Damn it, Johann, why couldn't you have gotten off your ass and written more than three violin concertos?
This is sublime.
