If you have to warm up somewhere you are doing something very wrong. I ride 20+ miles most days of the year down to -15C, 3F. You use your exercise to stay warm. Which means you mustn't overdress. If you sweat going uphill it chills you on the next descent. Dress down, not up. Using breathable clothing is absolutely vital. I use several different jackets to match the temperature range on the day. Use your head covering to adjust warmth levels. Wear wind-prooof overshoes over roomy MTB shoes.
haha! I regularly see cyclers dressed like that in Seattle on days in the upper 40's... A cold bike ride is better than the best drive any day. Keep it up eatsleepfishmtb!
I live in Grand Rapids, Michigan which gets relatively cold during the Winter and I have biked year round for more than two decades. Biking in the cold isn't as tough as this cyclist indicates but it is a bit of a learning curve to stay comfortable. Icebike.org has lots of useful info. Start commuting in the Summer and work into it as the season progresses. Happy cycling!
Cold weather riding sucks! I once had to ride to work(2 miles each way, no big deal) when the temperature was -10 degrees. My hands and feet were frozen!

'Worst thing about winter riding is the damage the road salt does to your bike. Just hassle keeping your bike from rotting away. Well done tho!

A tip, remove your face coverage since it create moisture when you exhale. Moisture and cold is a bad combination.
