A nocturnal thunderstorm (happened just after 4:00 a.m EDT) associated with a cold front raced through our region from the Southwest, bringing forward to us bright lightning and heavy rains. You'll have to crank up the volume a little bit in order to hear the softer rumbles of thunder.

This was taken in Southwestern Pierrefonds in the West Island of Montreal.

Enjoy!

  • I am a lover of thunderstorms but i hate waking up in the night,i love sleeping, the softest rumble of thunder will wake me up :O Haha,i also look at the radar shots to see were it will come!

  • Hehe I love nocturnal t-storms, particularly because the lightning is so much more vivid. Yeah, soft rumbles tend to wake me up as well, but this is a good thing since it allows me not to miss storms at night! When they occur, I quickly jump out of bed, setup my camera and get my laptop to track them. If there's the risk for storms overnight, I try to predict arrival times and await them, although I sometimes fall asleep doing so.

If you pause the vid at 0:29, you can see the bolt.

  • lol I know - that storm woke a lot of people from their sleep, but me, I was waiting for it with much delight. I took a look at radar shots many times, and I saw a cluster of cells moving towards this direction at around 2:00 a.m. I then gave it another hour or so, and bingo, it reached our area just passed 4. lol

    Anyhow, thanks for watching!
