Description: MassFX is a toolset for adding dynamics simulations to your 3D scenes. At this time, MassFX in 3ds Max deals exclusively with Rigid Bodies. This excludes any soft bodies like cloth or water. In this tutorial, you explore the MassFX workflow by mounting an attack on a medieval castle. In this Part 1 movie, you'll cover some of the basic principles and set the stage to work with objects to include in the simulation.

  • mass fx is a cool feature of 2012 3ds max, but what about physx?

  • @manzifabrice MassFX is based on NVidia's PhysX engine, just like RayFire

  • @3dsMaxHowTos ok i have downloaded v2012 and i have seen that it's a Nvidia physx based plugin. 1more question, what about reactor and car rigging and other stuff? reactor was easy to use.thanks

  • @manzifabrice Reactor has been removed from the 3ds Max 2012 interface. I think the plan is for MassFX to completely replace it but gradually. At this time, MassFX is about rigid bodies, but I believe it will expand into other things (like soft bodies) eventually. Not sure about car rigs though.

  • I downloaded the files in the description but I get this error when I try to open castle-start.max... I'm missing a dll called Built-in

    con somebody help me?

  • @rso This file was saved in 3ds Max 2012. Make sure you are not trying to open the file in a previous version of the software. Since this tutorial is about a feature that is only in 3ds Max 2012 (MassFX), it didn't seem crucial to provide the file in 2011/2010 formats.
