Chita, Donald O'Connor, and Maria Karnilova played 4 performances (after a month previews) in Bring Back Birdie, musical sequel to Bye Bye Birdie.

With the same creative team from the 60's(except Joe Layton replacing Gower Champion as director) the show caught up with the same characters 20 years after the original. This song was intended to be Rivera's 11 o'clock number, and shows how she earned a best actress tony nomination for an otherwise disastrous show.

Chita's dance partner here is Frank DeSal.

  • OH MY GOD! You actually got to see this and recorded it?! THANK YOU. THANK YOU. THANK YOU.

  • I saw this. It WAS something. You just sat there with your mouth hanging open, wondering "What the -?" Nothing made sense. One low point was Maria Karnilova as Mae, the ultimate Jewish mother, announcing she was really ... Spanish! Appalling. And all the old ladies in the audience just gaping with wonder at the mess. The production was the ugliest ever seen, all tv monitors. Chita was, as always, wonderful. (Saw her in Merlin, too, another disaster she was great in - incredible tricks, though.)

  • To have seen this live was something I bet.

Some how if the Birtish have Dames. We should have

Broads! Chita is one of the greatest Broads of Broadway.

    NO insult intended.

  • To have seen this live was something I bet.

  • if this video were a comic book it would be worth a lot of money

  • 20 years later and Chita's still hot. What a woman!

  • Is there anywhere I can find the Piano/Vocal Selections book for this musical?

  • I don't remember but it's out there...

  • where?

  • There is a pirate dvd available of this show
