@catzndolz sounds like someone used regular drywall screws in your cabinets. Look for a screw with that it;s head has a flat base on it. The length of the screw wont matter if the head can pull through the back of the cabs. As long as at least 3/4 of an inch of the screw penetrates the stud you are good.

What type of screws are you using to guarantee that those cabinets will not pull away from the walls once dishes and groceries ate put inside? I have been in my apartment for over 5 years and the cabinet over the sink fell off of the wall ! it had 6 31/2 inch screws holding it on the wall!
