@KCSLines At the time I posted my response, I worked for that railroad. 10 MPH is becuase of the track conditions. The crew regularly did track speed on that segment, even with the military trains. The track isn't in great shape, but it's fine for 10 MPH, even with the heavy BNSF equipment.

@CAFFlyer I live in this town, right by this line, and the tracks are in terrible shape, that's why they go slow

Just for the record, I do believe speed is either 5 or 10mph. Understand it is big train but also, this is not a main but rather branchline operation, so yeah..........

Speed limit there is 10. Dunno why the crew was going slow, the power is more than capable that doing track speed by that point as noted by the fact he's only in notch 3 or 4.
