...this flick is a lost CLASSIC!!!! The scene in the Chinese restaurant is choice!!! The dialogue between Kenneth MacMillan and Duvall is stellar! "I killed the girl, he says.....what girl? we'll say....the girl....the girl with the rose tattoo on her ass, he'll say........Oh yeah? Which one was that? we'll say"......that's how were gonna crack it, Tommy......

I want to add that this movie may be more enjoyable to someone (like myself) that was "raised catholic" in the pre John Paul 2 era......there are a lot of subtleties that probably sail right past someone who didn't come up in the old school "no meat on fridays...no food before communion...3 our fathers, 3 hail Marys, 3 whatever...light a candle and make an act of contrition" time period. But the lines are CLASSIC! " I need you like I need another f**k" or "thats right..WE met her..YOU f**ked her

Loved this movie. The tension between Deniro and Duval. "He was a good shoveler. Not a fancy shoveler mind you, but a good shoveler." No happy ending with this one. If you like Deniro, Duval, some excellent character actors, and a sense of Los Angeles during that time frame..............see the film.

The trailer is better than the actual film. Lots of nice buildup to a truly letdown climax and ending. Had potential though.
