In my opinion, the squillo in his voice and the natural legato put him in lirico-leggero fach, rather than plain leggero (as, to say, Luis Alva, Leopold Simoneau et al).

That is why he is so well suited also for Donizetti (Tonio, Nemorino) and did a fair job in Rigoletto (Kraus used to state that the role of the Ducca di Mantova is for lirico-leggero, rather than full lyric voice) -- even though Flórez himself wasn't happy about how it came out to his voice, health-wise and withdrew mid-season.

I agree that Florez is fantastic in Rossini, his voice suits him fine for all his operas.

@henkjmueller So correct. This was the first aria my teacher started into opera with. I assumed it would be a "beginner's aria", and the only reason I thought it was extremely difficult was because I was a 17 year old tenor singing opera. haha. Since then I've discovered rep in verismo stuff is much easier than this. Perhaps it could be because of my fach, but I consider this aria pretty difficult.

@Chrisdenancy that's a really stupid comment. Jesus, the closest thing Florez has done that's pop is probably "Jurame", but it's still a hablana-bolero, so that doesn't really come close. And Florez, along with Osborn and Brownlee, is considered the best light lyric tenor in the world. So shut your face.
