When Joy Behar and Barbra Walters have to call you out on your own bullshit, I think that says something. Like, "Now would be a good time to reconsider your strategy of gutter politics."

UPDATED: Read the full text of the "Sex Ed" bill for yourself.

  • I don't see McCain veto pen anymore anybody noticed. The Pen he raises up when threatening to veto earmarks, do you remmember that pen? I like to see that again

  • thats how they do it... i use to respect McCaine before he started using cue cards and hireing big oil lobbyists for his campain team.. from Mavrick 2 Puppet... Obama '08

  • So now I ask you: Is John McCain's ad true? That's the central issue here, the one you called me out on at the offset.

It was not Obama's "One Accomplishment."

It could never have been his "One Accomplishment."

And frankly, the bill is not perverted as McCain made it out to be.

Can you now, in good conscience, argue that this political advertisement was produced for any other purpose then to score cheap political points, that it was made to expose the truth, given what we have learned here?

  • You're starting to touch upon something very important here. It wouldn't have been an "Accomplishment." Even if it was, it wouldn't have been his "Only Accomplishment", as stated in the ad (Look up the Chicago Education Reform Act of 2003 and Illinois Gen. Assembly Bill HB0060 for two examples of reforms he DID pass).

Furthermore, even if it did pass, it wasn't Barack's bill. He was neither a sponsor nor a cosponsor. He couldn't claim credit to it even if he wanted to. Check the bill and see.

  • i agree with your points here that this isn't Obama's "one accomplishment"- certainly it isn't an accomplishment. especially since the rest of the General Assembly saw it for what it was, and the bill was never passed.

  • No matter how you try to cherry-pick it, you're still defending the indefensible here. John McCain falsely claimed that Obama had, as his "One accomplishment," passed this bill which taught Kindergartners about sex. This is completely false. No matter how hard you try to convince yourself otherwise, the fact remains that your candidate lied, and he shamelessly stuck by that lie.

So tell me, do you still think there is any truth left to his ad?

  • Fuckin' Youtube and its site maintenance. Alright, let me restart this.

HIV is an STD. STDs are not spread exclusively through sexual contact, and recognizing the other ways in which they can be contracted is key to prevention. Furthermore, the bill demands that the curriculum be age-appropriate, which means you don't go telling elementary students about explicit sex. You can leave that for grades 8-12.

  • the example you give has nothing to do with "sexually transmitted". nor how to prevent "sexually transmitted infections". nor do you say how HIV is "sexually transmitted". as would have been required by law.

  • I'll give you another example, straight out of my playbook. About 2 years ago my little brother (now 11) asked me what his testicles were for.

"Well, that's where a lot of the genetic information in your body is stored." I told him.

"Oh," he said. "Then why don't girls have them?"

"Girls have something just like that, but it's inside their bodies. It's just one of the ways boys and girls are different."

You should always talk to your kids about sex, just in different ways for different ages.
