  • Of course, everyone is entitled to an opinion, but the video is clearly labeled '2002.' I did not expect to hear the Caballe' of the 1970s. I think Montserrat should retire when SHE decides to retire and/or when she no longer has an audience eager to hear her. Personally, I enjoyed this performance and I thank you for posting it.

  • Nothing to burn here, nothing...So you compare Caballé aged 69 to a still young Renée Fleming ? What a strange idea... I think we will talk again about this Caballé rendition when Fleming will be 69 years old too (if able to sing a single note, of course). Caballé took risks, did a good job here, and very severe italian audience appreciate it very much. She won. Bravo Caballé !

  • amei e umas das maiores cantoras líricas do mundo.

  • Bof, bof...

  • there's no bitterness here ... just judgment ... your comment was that Caballe won compared to Fleming ... child, please

  • Tone-deaf yourself, bitter man...

I never wrote old (live) Caballé was better than still young (studio) Fleming. Read again...

  • yes, I compare any two renditions of the same song here on YouTube ... did I not say above that Caballe *was* a great, great artist? ... at age 69 in 2002, on this aria, un-listenable ... you're tone-deaf if you prefer this version to Fleming's

  • ouch ... Mme. Caballe was a great, great artist ...but this is a recording that should be burned ... listen to this after Renee Fleming's version and your ears will hurt and your heart will break ... better yet, listen to Fleming's after this one, to get the taste, as it were, out of your ears and to hear what this beautiful and unjustly obscure aria should sound like ... some singers, like boxers, sadly, don't know when to quit ...
