  • the amazing this is, i have no idea how "pull me under" was the only song regarded as a hit, because i listen to images and words frequently, and every freaking song is perfect and amazing. what is wrong with people??

  • Everything he is saying is so true. Long live DT. long live Progressive rock and metal.

  • @cherryorchards I fully agree with this. My three favorite records by them (Awake, Metropolis Part II and Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence) are all before that period, and while the song Octavarium (and a few off the same record) is good, as well as a few here and there from SC and BCaSL, they really changed for the negative. ADToE is quite a good record though.

  • @Johnpjm Not SO real after a while (to my ears, after train of thought). They ended up becoming slaves to what the average fans expects them to sound like, with all the metal cliches, teenage oriented lyrics and power metal vocals. As far as i know, that was the main reason that drove mike away from DT. And they are still doing the same ol shit after all, instead of letting the new blood (Mangini) give a breath of fresh air to the band

  • Not being cool is the way to go! Wise words MP, I agree

  • @123theater1 No. Long live real music. Don't pin music to meaningless titles. They play real music.

  • umm so he didn't turn his back on the band he helped create? yeah.... sighh. megalomania |ˌmegəlōˈmānēə|

    noun

obsession with the exercise of power, esp. in the domination of others. watch it...

  • @529376100 no... not at all..

  • This is the Portnoy I miss. Not the Megalomaniac Narcissist that tainted DT w/ his ego which was a product of his success. If you watch dream theater making of black clouds you see how much of an asshole he becomes & when you listen to the album you can hear how "stale"(MP) DT becomes.

  • self oriented mike?

  • @nmillwater33 well according to most DT fans and professional reviews systematic chaos and falling into infinty are considered their weakest releases. to me SC sounds too muse like and too metal. plus some of the instrumentals are just random noise in my opinion. I know DT have always been about showcasing their technical skill, but I think SC just takes the biscuit of 'technical wankery', at times. dont get me wrong Dt are my fav band ever.

  • @MulletMan3108 I've only been a dream theater fan for about 2 years so BCSL was new when I bought it. I didn't live through the realease of every album so I just judged them on how good they were not how they compared to other albums. And i fucking love systematic chaos how can you say that's their worst album??
